Voter Registration

Registering to Vote:

The passage of the 2014 Voter Access & Modernized Elections Act allows for Same Day Registration.

Registration requirements:

  • Citizen of the United States
  • Has been a resident of the state of Colorado for at least 22 days
  • Is at least 16 years old and understands that they must be 18 years old to be eligible to vote
  • Either provides a valid Colorado Driver’s License or Colorado ID card (Issued by the Dept. of revenue) Number OR presents one of the acceptable forms of identification for voting 
  • Complete the fields marked "Required" on the application, including your complete address with apartment or unit number.

To register to vote, visit Jefferson County Election Offices, the Wheat Ridge City Clerk Office or register online via the State of Colorado Voter Registration site. 

The last day to register prior to an election is now determined by the method that the voter chooses to submit their registration:

Registering for the first time in Colorado:

Up to 22 days prior to the election [Computation of time CRS 1-1-106(2)]

  • Through the mail  
  • Through Voter Registration Agency  
  • At a Local Driver’s License Examination Facility Driver’s License Locations
  • Through a Voter Registration Drive (VRD) 

 Up to 8 days prior to the Election 

 In-Person at any time during which registration is permitted including Election Day

Change of Address for voters registered in Colorado:

 Up to 8 days prior to the Election

 In-Person at any time during which registration is permitted including Election Day
