What is a Transfer of Ownership?
A transfer of ownership happens when a business with an existing liquor license sells their business to someone else. The new owner will have the liquor license transferred to their business name. The process is similar in many respects to that of a new liquor license in that the new owner(s) must be fingerprinted and have their backgrounds checked. In the case of a transfer, the applicant may request that a temporary permit be issued to them, for continued alcohol service. This permit can be revoked or suspended and could be valid for a term of up to 180 days.Liquor License Application Packet
