Public Information Office

Media Relations

The role of the PIO is to keep the community informed about what the WRPD is doing to keep you safe, from training, to the types of calls our patrol officers respond to, to our efforts to continue to develop our relationship-based policing program. The PIO acts as the conduit between community members and the police department, also releasing timely information in the event of an emergency or a significant police response.

The PIO disseminates that information primarily via social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, NextDoor, and the city website. The PIO also maintains the police department's YouTube channel and regularly releases videos that are of public interest, to include a weekly video blotter summarizing the most significant calls officers respond to each week.

The PIO also helps organize community events and forums that encourage dialog between community members and officers. We are always open to new ideas on how to further the conversation between police and the community we serve, working together to both respond to and prevent crime more effectively.
