The answer to both questions is yes! The City of Wheat Ridge requires all dogs and cats to be properly vaccinated for rabies. Valid rabies vaccination tags should be worn by all residing dogs and cats. The tags provide owner information and proof of vaccination compliance should the animal be found within the city. Upon contact, all dog and cat owners (caretakers) are required to provide proper proof of valid rabies vaccination when requested by Community Services Team (Animal Control) officers. Failure to provide proper valid vaccination proof may result in the issuance of a warning notice and/or municipal summons for Chapter 4 Animals violations.
